There will be a season 3 to Haruhi before K-On! and both of those are highly doubtful considering the wait but besides that Full Metal Panic has been stated as getting another season and with this particular studio's one series per season rule...

but chuunibyou got a 3rd season so why not k-on?

What is the time gap between seasons, what other series are being done by Kyoto Animation at the same time...

See put those into account and also note Chuunibyou won't have it's third season airing straight away there will be another series airing before that third season airs, the timeframe between Haruhi season 2/movie and K-On!!/movie are getting fairly long but I am not 100% certain but I am fairly sure it has been stated K-On!!/movie was the finale to it despite how much of a cash cow that series was. I'd be glad to be wrong with that last part but it is highly doubtful especially with Full Metal Panic apparently planned for it's third season and FUMOFFU's second season along with Chuunibyou season 3.
