This console has no chance outside of the US, all these tv features mean nothing to console gamers in Europe, Japan and other countries. And these people are not going to appreciate a games machine that has a always watching and always listening kinect device, plus locking all games to their account making resale and sharing a real hassle.
This console is very badly thought out, it's not simple at all, it's a confusing mess trying to do way to much for a supposed games console. They mentioned the word tv a hundred times last night, and COD another 50 times, it's a machine aimed at the US market and nothing else.
If Sony launch PS4 in Europe in the next 6-8 months and put no restrictions at all on used or physical games, then they will destroy the new Xbox in Europe, Japan.

I was expecting something somewhat impressive since the 360 isn't that bad but the XBox One seems like an awful direction to take. I'll wait until E3 to see if anything changes but I will not be buying one.

I'm actually wondering if that is legal in countries as wouldn't that be akin to having your phoneline tapped 24/7 well not quite but you get the idea and the needing the internet to actually play if that isn't displayed clearly on the box they can expect a fair few lawsuits in various countries.

You're right, check this out
:: Any recording devices/viewing devices (e.g webcams) have to have the option of being turned off in the EU, otherwise it violates the law. So kinect will be always on?
:: Another issue is with selling used game.
An author of software cannot oppose the resale of his 'used' licences allowing the use of his programs downloaded from the internet," the ruling read. The exclusive right of distribution covered by a license is "exhausted on its first sale"
A customer's has the right to sell any content or device that they have legally purchased without restriction. So a used fee or limiting the re-sellers violates this doesn't it? I mean say your not actually selling it but giving it away for fee to your friend. Your friend has to pay an online fee to microsoft? Then that's already restricting.

Sounds like Microsoft might have some lawsuits on their hands if they keep it that way then.

Key quote:
The source claimed that the Xbox One's integrated Kinect camera is capable of scanning a room and using its facial recognition software to detect foreign users. If Kinect detects someone it does not recognize, it then audibly asks this person to identify themselves. Once this is done, the Kinect saves the information to the console, according to the report.
